Groundbreaking Transformation of the Oakland Coliseum for Major League Cricket

The LandTek Group, A TenCate Company, is playing a major role in the transformation of the iconic Oakland Coliseum for Cognizant Major League Cricket (MLC). The Coliseum, which has hosted baseball and American football since 1966, will be modified to accommodate nine MLC fixtures in 2025, including the installation of specialized drop-in pitches to meet international standards. These drop-in pitches are upcycled from the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup hosted at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in Eisenhower Park, NY.

LandTek’s professional grounds team will oversee the extraction, preparation, and transportation of the drop-in pitches across 2,900 miles from Long Island, NY, to the Oakland Coliseum in California. Once in California, LandTek will work with the Australian Grounds team from Adelaide Oval on maintaining the pitches and monitoring the grow-in process, while the LandTek sports construction team prepares the coliseum grounds for the 9 MLC fixtures.

This project highlights The LandTek Group’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of building and maintaining world-class sports facilities. In 2024, LandTek was involved in the construction and maintenance of two of the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup venues.

Cricket has been officially included in the 2028 Summer Olympics, marking its return to the Olympic stage for the first time since the 1900 Summer Olympics. Major League Cricket (MLC) is dedicated to expanding the sport’s presence across the United States, with the goal of establishing the country as a prominent global cricket hub.
